Savelyev Vladimir Pavlovich, a creative pseudonym Vladimir Asmolov, was born on November 15, 1946 in the city of Donetsk. After graduating from school, served in ranks of the Soviet Army during rather quiet time between Caribbean and Afghan conflicts. Wasn't prisoned, wasn’t tangled with the criminal justice system, and didn’t participate. In 1973 graduated from philological faculty of Donetsk State University. Since 1975 has lived in Moscow. He began to write early and although hasn’t got music education, he has written melodies of his songs by himself. Short cooperation with several soviet composers as the author of song texts left feeling of dissatisfaction, and desire to express him as much as it possible led eventually to creation of the first author's album ("Devochki venerochki", 1986). Since that time he produced twelve albums and 6 albums of restaurant music. Since 1989 he began his concert activity. In the summer of 1991 he visited the USA for the first time where he recorded his "American album”. He has been "registered” by a rumor in America until now, as an emigrant and dissident although he goes abroad only for short tours. Despite almost a complete concealing in mass media, Vladimir Asmolov's name is widely known in Russia and among the Russian-speaking population of near and far abroad.
